BRENT MANDELKORN OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior defender from Frisco, Texas has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer Co-Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches beginning September 18th.
Mandelkorn led the sixth-ranked Trinity men's soccer team to a pair of SCAC road shutouts over the weekend, blanking both Texas Lutheran and Southwestern.
Mandelkorn and the Tiger defense limited both teams to just three shots on goal over the weekend, securing the third consecutive shutout for the team. For the season, Mandelkorn and the rest of Trinity's back line have recorded seven clean sheets, including four shutouts in five SCAC contests.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior defender Griffin Wesley of Colorado College anchored the Colorado College defense that allowed just nine shots in shutout victories over then first-place Austin (3-0) and Centenary (1-0), as well as a 0-0 tie at Johnson & Wales on Tuesday to begin the week. Wesley earned Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors alongside Mandelkorn. Junior defender Sean Taylor of the University of Dallas guided the back line that defensively surrendered one goal in 200 minutes this past weekend against Centenary College and Austin College.
