ZHAO YUNG GU OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a junior from Weihai, China, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition from Wednesday, March 9 through Tuesday, March 15. SCAC Golf Release (Spring - Week 4)
Yung Gu shot rounds of 71-70-68 to take medalist honors at the LeTourneau/Pinecrest Invitational, leading the Mountaineers to a first place finish. He finished atop the 49-player field with a 209 (-7) and was one of just two players to finish the tournament under par.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Richard Polan of Centenary finished as runner up at the LeTourneau/Pinecrest Invitational with rounds of 70-67-75 for a 212, four-under par score. He and Yung Gu were the only players to finish under par. His second-round 67 tied for the low round of the event. Junior Chase Maus of Texas Lutheran finished in the top five for the second consecutive tournament. After a third-place finish in the Schreiner Shootout, Maus posted an even-par total of 144 to finish tied for fifth after matching his Monday score of 72 on Tuesday.
