BROCK LUECHTEFELD OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore forward from The Woodlands, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played Monday, January 16th through Sunday, January 22nd. SCAC Men's Basketball Release (Week 11)

Luechtefeld led the Pirates to an undefeated weekend at home, topping Austin College, 87-73, on Friday night and then knocking off Dallas, 77-76 on Saturday. He averaged an impressive 18.0 points per game, highlighted by a season-high 26 points in the win over the ‘Roos. Luechtefeld shot 58.3 percent from the field on the week, connecting on 14 of 24 shots, including 8-of-9 from the free throw line. He also added 8.0 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 0.5 steals per game on the week. After a perfect weekend of SCAC play the Pirates sit at 3-7 in the conference standings, 7-12 overall.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC: 

Senior guard Freddie Ricks III of St. Thomas led the Celts in the win against the Trinity Tigers with 18 points. Ricks III also added three rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the win. Sophomore guard Dylan Mackey of Schreiner averaged 14.5 points, 6.0 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 0.5 steals per game last week as the Mountaineers split a pair of home SCAC contests. Freshman guard Dinari Boykin of Colorado led the Tigers with 30 points, nine rebounds and seven steals in a win against non-conference opponent UC Santa Cruz last Saturday. Senior guard Ben Haley of Trinity was in double-figures in both contests over the weekend. Haley averaged 10.0 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.5 rebounds per game as the Tigers went 1-1 at home in SCAC contests. Freshman guard LaDarius King of Texas Lutheran dropped a career-high 24 points in the Bulldogs loss to Dallas last Friday night. Senior guard Seth Thomas of Centenary averaged 14.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 1.0 block and 3.5 assists in a pair of games last week for the Gents as they fell in both contests. Junior forward Jack Boyle of Dallas posted a pair of double-doubles last week for the Crusaders, highlighted by his 30-point, 10 rebound effort in a tough loss as Southwestern on Saturday.
