WHITESIDE OF CENTRE COLLEGE, a first-year guard
from Knoxville, Tenn., has been named SCAC Basketball
Player-of-the-Week for games played Monday, January 17 through
Sunday, January 23.
Whiteside averaged 13.5 points and 7.5 rebounds
in a pair of SCAC road wins over Southwestern and Trinity. The
first-year player scored 16 points with four rebounds, three
assists and three steals in Centre’s 72-54 win over the
Pirates Friday night.
He then came back the next day to post his first double-double
of his collegiate career with 11 points and 11 rebounds in a 73-61
win over Trinity. In the two games combined,
Whiteside made 11 of 18 (61.1%) from the
floor.
Through 16 games, Whiteside is now averaging 8.4 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.
