KALEB KIRK OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a sophomore pitcher from Nacogdoches, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week for games played Monday, February 29th through Sunday, March 6th.
Kirk threw a masterpiece as Centenary blanked No. 17 UT Tyler, 8-0. Kirk threw only 47 pitches in five innings or work, allowing no Patriots past second base.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman left-handed-pitcher Caleb Allen of Schreiner pitched a complete game victory over Southwestern giving up 3 runs on 7 hits with 3 strikeouts. Junior pitcher Josh Lewis of Austin College tossed a complete game shutout in the series opener against Dallas, picking up the victory that helped kickstart a three game sweep for the 'Roos. Sophomore pitcher Will Preston of Southwestern earned his second straight win after helping Southwestern to a 4-1 triumph at Schreiner in the middle game of the series. Freshman pitcher Nathan Malinovsky of Texas Lutheran tossed eight innings and allowed just two runs in the tough 2-1 loss to No. 4-ranked Trinity. Junior pitcher Ryan Hammonds of Dallas threw seven shutout innings and limited Austin College to a pair of hits and a walk on Saturday.
