No. 19 Western New England rolls to a 15-6 victory over host Colorado College

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The No. 19 Western New England men’s lacrosse team celebrated its first appearance of the season in the national rankings with a 15-6 victory over Colorado College Wednesday afternoon (Mar. 21) at Washburn Field.

This was the third straight win for the Golden Bears who are now 3-1 with the only loss a close 6-4 decision at then No. 5 Stevenson (MD).

Senior midfielder Joe O’Keefe (Branford, CT) and sophomore attacker Owen Caruso (Port Washington, NY) led 14 players in the scoring column with three and two goals, respectively.

Caruso scored three minutes into the game as Western New England took a 5-1 lead after the opening period.

The Tigers got within three at 6-3 following a man-up goal by sophomore attacker Tyler Allen (Carmel, CA) at 9:40 of the second period and a score by senior attacker Moses Taylor (Denver, CO) eight seconds later.

The Golden Bears then fired in five straight goals for a 10-3 advantage at halftime.

Holding a comfortable lead throughout the second half, Coach John Klepecki had an opportunity to get many of his reserves into the game.

Sophomore attacker Adam Knapton (Canandaigua, NY) contributed a goal and two assists for Western New England.

Senior midfielder Patrick White (Milton, MA), junior attacker Corbett Corrigan Harreys (Essex, CT), and junior midfielder James Reardon (Longmeadow, MA) each chipped-in with a goal and assist.

Senior midfielder Joe Martin (Springfield, MA) took 15-of-21 face offs. Senior goalie Brewster Knowlton (Somers, CT) made eight saves.

Taylor finished with two goals for the hosts while sophomore goalie Zach Steedman (Puyalllup, WA) compiled 12 saves.

Colorado College now has a 2-2 record.
