NKOLIKA NWEKE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior on the women's track and field team, has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week beginning October 2, 2017.

The SCAC honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

Nweke, who hails from Pearland, Texas, has volunteered for San Antonio’s Habitat for Humanity with Trinity University Volunteer Action Community (TUVAC), a campus organization dedicated to service and outreach. Nweke also has participated in community outreach through Trinity Women in Science and Technology. The psychology and pre-dental major and her colleagues visit grade schools to tutor and mentor young girls interested in the field of science.

On the track, Nweke is Trinity’s record-holder in the 100 and 200 meters. She is also part of the Tigers’ 4x100-meter relay team, which is ranked first in the school’s all-time record book.

Nweke qualified for the 2017 NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships at Geneva, Ohio, where she placed 16th in the 100 meters race. The talented Nweke has been a strong contributor to Trinity’s women’s track & field team, which has captured three consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships.
