SHELBY DEVORE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a member of the women's golf team, has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Character and Community Female Student Athlete of the Week for the week beginning April 25, 2016.

The SCAC honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics and serve their campus and community.

DeVore helped pace the Tiger women’s golf team to a second SCAC Championship in three years. Trinity won the title April 18-19, at the Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco, Texas. DeVore placed sixth in the individual competition, and earned All-SCAC Second Team accolades. Last year, DeVore tied for third place, and received All-SCAC First Team recognition. With her high finish, DeVore was tabbed as the SCAC Freshman Golfer of the Year in 2015.

The versatile DeVore is a communication major, and an excellent student. She has qualified for the SCAC Academic Honor Roll.

On campus, DeVore is the editor of “The Mirage,” the student yearbook. She is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, which works with other student-athletes to help improve the athletics program, and organize special events.
