LUIS MANCILLAS OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a sophomore on the men’s basketball team, has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Male Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week beginning February 1, 2016
The SCAC honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.
Mancillas has been a vital part of the Mountaineers success both on and off the field the past two seasons. Along with helping Schreiner on the court, he has shown contributions off the field, also. Arriving in Kerrville last fall, this honor roll student has become involved with such groups as the Residential Life and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, while also being active back home in the community with such groups as Toys for Tots, Special Olympics and the South Padre Beach Clean Up effort.
A Sports Management major, Mancillas has been involved in many volunteer projects such as assisting in local food drives, mentoring at the local elementary, beach clean up, and coaching local children.
