The Bulldogs (12-7) controlled the ball for most of the first half, out shooting the Mountaineers 6-2; however, the Schreiner (4-14-3) defense was excellent, forcing shots that were not on target and keeping the game scoreless going into halftime.

The defensive intensity picked up on both sides throughout the second half as both offenses looked to put the other ahead as it seemed one goal would be enough for victory in this match.

The Bulldogs dug themselves in a little hole as Isaac Lopez picked up his second yellow card of the match in the 77th minute to bring Texas Lutheran down to 10 men.

Schreiner went on the attack, looking to take advantage, but the Bulldog defense held strong as the game clock expired with the game still tied at zero.

Despite being down a man, Texas Lutheran came out on fire in the second half, keeping possession on their end.

After a goal kick, TLU regained possession where Martinez took it from around 35 yards out and manuvered his way into the box to put away the game winner.

For both Texas Lutheran and Schreiner, it was their first games at the SCAC Men's Championship as they are both new members of the SCAC.

The Bulldogs will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they will take on the No. 1 seed and No. 7 team in the country, Trinity. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. from the Southwestern University Soccer Fields.
