KATRINA LIEBERMAN OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior setter from Tustin, California, has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 23 through Sunday, September 29.
Lieberman averaged 7.67 assists per set as a three-rotation setter over the weekend, an increase from her average of 6.07 assists per set this season. She also led the Tigers to a .313 hitting percentage and an average of 15 kills per set in matches played against St. Thomas and Schreiner, highlighted by a .336 team hitting percentage against Schreiner. Against St. Thomas, Lieberman reached 30 assists for the fifth time this season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman Alaima Lanik of St. Thomas knocked down a team-high 14 kills in a four-set match against No. 10-ranked Trinity on Wednesday, and turned in her third triple-double of the season Saturday in a win over Centenary. Lanik knocked down 11 kills, and tallied 17 assists and 19 digs against the Ladies. Senior Brooke Paxton of Johnson & Wales matched a season high with 14 kills Saturday against Central (Iowa) and finished the Prairie Wolf Invitational averaging 3.7 kills and 2.0 digs per set. Freshman Elleanna McGown of Southwestern posted a career-high 21 kills on a .432 hitting percentage against Concordia Texas and followed that with nine kills in three sets against OLLU to finish the week with a 4.29 kills per set average on a .319 hitting percentage. Sophomore Madison Weisinger of Texas Lutheran had eight kills, two service aces, and five blocks in a three-set loss to Huston-Tillotson. In a three-set home win over St. Thomas, Weisinger hit .300 with five kills, one dig, and one block.
