Avery Tuggle, Trinity University, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 4)

AVERY TUGGLE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior outside hitter from Cedar Creek,Texas, has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matchesplayed through Sunday, September 22.

Tuggle posted double-doubles in all three matches over the weekend and now has eight double-doubles in 14 matches this season for the Tigers as Trinity posted a 3-0 mark with wins against Austin College, Texas Lutheran and Johnson & Wales. She began the weekend by hitting .357 in Friday’s win over Austin College, then closed the weekend by hitting .500 against JWU. Tuggle tallied a team-best 46 kills (3.8/set) and was second on the team with 37 digs (3.03/set).

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman outside hitter Alaina Lanik of St. Thomas knocked down 15 kills and tallied 15 digs in a five-set match against Austin College, followed with eight-kills and 13-digs against Johnson & Wales as the Celts split a pair of SCAC matches over the weekend. Senior outside hitter Brooke Paxton of Johnson & Wales averaged 3.15 kills and 3.62 digs per set over the weekend. Sophomore setter Brooklyn Talley of Austin College totaled 127 assists for an average of 5.52 per set last week as the ‘Roos posted a 3-2 record. Talley also added four service aces and averaged 2.52 digs per set. Sophomore middle hitter Dayjah Whyte of Dallas led the team through five matches with 53 kills (2.79 k/s). Whyte also added 10 service aces, 15 digs and nine blocks (7 block assists) as the Crusaders posted a 3-2 record last week. Freshman outside hitter Emma White of Southwestern averaged 3.14 kills per set on a .209 hitting percentage; hit- ting above .300 in two of the Pirates five matches last week. Senior setter Lizzy Counts of Colorado College averaged 8.77 assists per set while leading CC to a .285 team hitting percentage for the weekend. Counts dished out 114 assists on the weekend be- coming just the third player in CC program history to record 3,500 or more. Sophomore right side hitter Madison Weisinger of Texas Lutheran hit .239 over three matches and had 27 total kills in the SCAC Cross Divisional.
