Isabella Vasquez, Colorado College, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 2)

ISABELLA VASQUEZ OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a sophomore outside hitter from Colorado Springs, Colo., has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Tuesday, September 3 through Sunday, September 8.

Vasquez was voted MVP of the 2019 Spike It Up Classic in a ballot of the opposing coaches after leading the Tigers to the tournament title. The sophomore outside hitter averaged 3.23 kills per set along with a .325 hitting percentage. She also led the Tigers with seven aces and tied for third with 24 assists. Velasquez recorded a season-high 12 kills and hit .526 in Saturday's sweep of Willamette. She posted double-digit kills in three of four matches to help the Tigers win 12 of 13 sets.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore right side Karson Dykes of Austin College had a strong weekend for the 'Roos, leading the team with 3.29 kills perm set while boasting a .315 hitting percentage. Dykes was in double figures in kills in all four of the team's matches, twice notching 11 and reaching 12 kills in each of the other two matches as Austin College went 3-1. Sophomore right side Abigial Porras of Dallas had an explosive weekend averaging 2.94 kills per set with 53 total kills and a .363 kill percentage. She eclipsed double figures in kills in all-but one match, including a season-high 19 in the Crusaders' 3-1 win over Belhaven to sweep day one. Porras also combined for 14 service aces (0.78 sa/s) and 30 digs, and posted a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs in the tournament finale. Freshman outside hitter Hope Hines of Johnson & Wales had 45 kills, averaging 2.81 per set, as the Wildcats posted a 2-2 mark at their own Wildcat Invitational. She also chipped in with 52 digs. Freshman middle blocker Riley Brantley of Southwestern recorded double-digit kills in three of her four matches this week, finishing with 47 while hitting an efficient .300. The first year middle blocker also recorded 11 block assists. Sophomore middle blocker Peyton Sulak hit .328 over four matches at the Cal Lu Fornia Invitational. In the win over Whittier, she had seven kills on 16 attempts and added three blocks. Sophomore middle blocker Emily Ellis of Trinity led the seventh-ranked Tiger volleyball team to a 2-2 split at the UT-Dallas Invitational over the weekend. Ellis led the team with 13 kills and a .571 hitting percentage in the opening match of the weekend, then tied her career-high with 16 kills later that day. Ellis reached double figures in kills in three of the four matches.
