LEXI MORRIS OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a freshman libero from Victoria, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 28 through Sunday, November 3.
Morris set a new career-high in digs with 41 in the Bulldogs win over Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday. She also had a pair of 33 digs in matches against Hardin-Simmons and Concordia Texas. Overall Morris averaged 7.13 digs per set throughout the three matches, the highest average being 8.20 in match against Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Ali Grona of Southwestern had 57 total digs throughout three matches for an average of 5.18 digs per set, the highest being 22 digs in the Pirates win over Geneseo. Sophomore Emily Ellis of Trinity scored a weekend-best 11 kills while setting a new career-high of nine blocks in the final regular season match of the season against East Texas Baptist. Ellis avaraged a .469 hitting percentage throughout the two matches. Sophomore Georgia Mullins of Colorado College had a hand in six blocked shots while adding three digs in the Tigers win over Johnson and Wales on Firday. She helped CC hold the Wildcats to a -.033 hitting percentage.
