ESTHER BOWERS AND NINA NITROFANOVA OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, have been selected as the SCAC Women’s Doubles Team of the Week for matches played from Sunday, February 10 to Sunday, February 16.
In doubles, Bowers, a junior from Kerrville, Texas and Mitrofanova, a freshman from Conroe, Texas, defeated Isabella Wiik and Cassandra Landeros-Cabrera, 8-1, of Concordia (Texas) at the No. 1 spot to lead the Pirates to a 9-0 blanking of the Tornados. and remain undefeated at 3-0 this season.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year players Liz Perkins and Bailey Denton of Texas Lutheran teamed together for an 8-4 win over McMurry (Texas) at the No. 3 doubles position - providing the Bulldogs their only point of the match in the 8-1 loss to the War Hawks.
