BRI WERNER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a first-year midfielder from Woodbine, Md., has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, October 28th through Sunday, November 3rd. SCAC Women's Soccer Release (Week 10)
Werner led Trinity to a pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference shutout wins to close out the regular season, clinching the Regular Season Championship with a perfect 10-0-0 record in league play. Werner finished the weekend with three goals and an assist, including the eventual game-winning goal against Centenary in the regular season finale on Sunday. Werner put Friday's game out of reach with her 55th-minute goal that put the Tigers up 4-0 at the time. Against Centenary, she netted two goals and an assist among the four goals scored. Werner scored the only goal of the first half for the game-winner, then assisted on the first goal of the second half. Just 30 seconds later, the Tigers scored again as Werner netted her second of the day. This season, Werner is tied for the team lead with 22 total points, scoring eight goals and recording six assists. She is tied for the team lead in goals and is second on the team in assists.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior forward Callie Brame of Texas Lutheran was outstanding last weekend leading the Bulldogs to a pair of key SCAC wins, helping secure the No. 2 overall seed in the upcoming conference Tournament. She dished out an assist in TLU’s 2-1 win over McMurry and then she scored the lone goal in the Bulldogs 1-0 win over Concordia on Sunday.
