Cecily Woolfolk, Southwestern University, Player of the Week (Week 15)

CECILY WOOLFOLK OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior center from Crowley, Texas, has been named SCAC Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, February 17 through Sunday, February 23.

Woolfolk dominated inside to help the Pirates closeout the season with a pair of victories, scoring a season-high 27 points against Colorado College to go along with 10 rebounds for her 11th double-double of the season. Against Johnson & Wales, Woolfolk poured in 25 points to mark her third-straight and fourth in the last five that she has reached the 20-point plateau. She also had two blocks in each game, surpassing 100 blocks in her career. In total for the week, Woolfolk averaged 26.0 points per game on 54.3 percent shooting (19-for-25) and grabbed 6.5 rebounds per night. 


Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Junior forward Reagan Chiaverini of Austin College had a strong weekend to wrap up the regular season, averaging a team-best 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in a pair of games. Junior forward McKenzee Gertz of Colorado College averaged 17 points and 11 rebounds per game last week in a pair of road losses for the Tigers. Gertz posted a double-double in each game to bring her season total to 12. Freshman guard Beyonce Perry of Dallas paced the Crusaders offense with 24.0 points-per-game over two weekend contests on the road. She netted a career-high 24 points at St. Thomas and added 17 against Centenary. Senior guard Sheridan Hopkins of St. Thomas averaged 18.5 points and 10 rebounds per game to help the Celts close out the regular season with a pair of home conference wins over Dallas and Austin College. In the win against the ‘Roos, Hopkins notched a double-double with 27 points and 13 rebounds. Junior post Abby Hroch of Texas Lutheran averaged 13 points on 50 percent shooting and added seven rebounds per game as the Bulldogs will head into the SCAC Tournament coming off the heels of two home wins over Johnson & Wales and Colorado College. Senior forward Abby Holland of Trinity averaged 20.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game over the past week, hitting 54.8% (17-31) from the field and a perfect 6-6 at the foul line to lead the Tigers to a pair of SCAC wins last weekend. This season, Holland leads the team with 18.5 points/game and 6.6 rebounds/game, as well as swiping 76 steals (3.0/game) and shooting 53.1% from the field.
