CHASSETY RAINES OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore pitcher from Spring, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, February 17 through Sunday, February 23.
Raines tossed a complete-game, two-hit shutout against Whitworth on Saturday. Raines struck out five and did not walk a batter. Raines was in the circle for the first time since last year's national title game, in which she tossed a three-hit, complete game.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Karina Campo of Dallas made two appearances last week at the Millsaps College Invite, both coming against the host Majors. Campo picked up her first career save in the Crusaders lone win of the weekend, going one inning allowing just one hit and no runs. Junior Allie Holbrook of Trinity scattered six hits over a complete-game effort to lead Trinity to a win over Whitworth on Sunday, salvaging a doubleheader split. Holbrook allowed just one sixth-inning run on those six hits, pitching her second complete game of the season and improving her record to 2-1 on the year.
