NADIA NETEK OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior pitcher from Buda, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played through February 3rd.

Netek came off the bench to pick up wins in both of the Pirates' games this week against Pacific Lutheran.

Pitching in crucial situations in both appearances, Netek stepped into the pitcher's circle with two out and bases loaded and stopping the Lutes' four-run inning to keep the game tie in Game One. The junior came into relief in the second game, stopping another potential big inning and going the rest of the way to pick up a second win.

In all, Netek pitched 5.2 innings giving up only a single run and walk with just four hits.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior pitcher Kelsie Stone of Texas Lutheran tossed a complete game in a 5-1 victory over Huston-Tillotson on Saturday. She scattered seven hits, struck out three, and walked two. She allowed just one earned run and improved to 1-0 on the year. First-year pitcher Kennedy Moody of Schreiner earned the victory of the Mountaineers in the season-opener against Hardin-Simmons. The first-year went the distance in the five-inning shortened game, allowing three hits and one earned run while walking five in the 11-1 victory.
