  • DePauw's 2007 NCAA Finals Appearance Selected Top SCAC Softball Moment

    SUWANEE, Ga. - The SCAC had sponsored women's softball as an official conference sport since 1999, and, beginning in 2000, its champion had received an automatic berth into the NCAA championships. From 2000 to 2006, SCAC softball teams had limited success in NCAA postseason play, sporting a mark of 5-14 in regional play. But in 2007, a freshman pitcher from Carmel, Ind., would help change all that.
  • Davis Named Austin College Head Softball Coach

    SHERMAN, Texas - Jaclyn Davis has been named the new head coach of the Austin College softball program, athletics director David Norman has announced. Davis comes to Austin College after most recently serving as an assistant coach at Rutgers University-Newark.

    SUWANEE, Ga. – In an expected announcement made today at the annual spring meeting of the league’s Board of Directors, the Presidents of Birmingham-Southern College, Centre College, Hendrix College, Millsaps College, Oglethorpe University, Rhodes College and Sewanee-The University of the South declared their intent to withdraw from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference effective June 30, 2012.

    ADRIAN, Mich. - DePauw scored two in the first and five in the second and pitcher Emily Bichler tossed her third shutout of the NCAA Division III Softball Regional as the Tigers advanced to the NCAA Finals for the second straight year and third time in the last five seasons with a 7-0 win over Hiram. DePauw improved to 31-9-1, while the Terriers finished the season at 29-14.

    STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) placed eight student-athletes on the 2011 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-Region teams. DePauw University placed a league-high five players on the All-Region teams followed by Southwestern University, which placed two on the All-Region teams.

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - DePauw University (26-7-1), Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference champions, will represent the SCAC in the 2011 NCAA Division III Softball Championship field of 60 teams. The Tigers, who were chosen as a top-seed traveling to the Adrian Regional, will open up the NCAA tournament against Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference champion eighth seeded D'Youville College (21-8).

    SUWANEE, Ga. - DePauw earned its third SCAC title in the last four years and the program's fifth straight trip to the NCAA Championship over the weekend after defeating Trinity 3-2. Haley Buchanan grooved a pitch over left-center field with two outs and two on for what proved to be the game changing play of the tournament.

    GREENCASTLE, Ind. – In exclusive 2011 all-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) voting by the league’s head coaches, Stefanie Faith of Austin College was selected the conference’s Offensive Player-of-the-Year and Sara Bowen of Rhodes College and Lauren Zearfoss of Southwestern University were named Co-Pitchers-of-the-Year. Zearfoss was also recognized as the league’s Newcomer-of-the-Year.

Weather became the story as the day unfolded allowing for the completion of just two of the scheduled four games. Play will resume tomorrow morning at nine with Southwestern against Trinity.

    SUWANEE, Ga. - Defending SCAC Champion Southwestern swept Trinity over the weekend allowing the Tigers just three runs in the four game series. Junior pitcher Lyndsy Maus was outstanding pitching 12 innings going 2-0 with one shutout, allowing just one run on seven hits while striking out eight and walking just two for a .75 ERA, holding Trinity to a .167 batting average and no extra base hits.

Megan Yglesias help lead the Majors over the weekend batting .600 in four games with nine hits, including two home runs, nine RBIs 1.200 slugging percentage with two huge game-winning hits (HR and Single).
