Trinity's Paulus; Southwestern's Thorne Named SCAC Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Senior sprinter Will Paulus of Trinity University and freshman field athlete Rance Thorne of Southwestern University has been named SCAC Track and Field Athletes of the Week after impressive performances this past weekend.

 

 

 

 

 

SCAC TRACK ATHLETE-OF-THE-WEEK
Events through Sunday, April 13th

WILL PAULUS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior from Burlington, Wis., has been selected the SCAC Track Athlete-of-the-Week for meets through Sunday, April 13th.

Paulus led the Tigers in San Antonio at the University of Incarnate Word Invitational this past weekend.

Paulus had a pair of solid performances in both the 200 and 400 meter dash events.

Paulus had personal records with his times of 22.35 seconds in the 200, and 49.20 seconds in the 400 - good for sixth place overall and 36th in the nation.

 

SCAC FIELD ATHLETE-OF-THE-WEEK
Events through Sunday, April 13th

RANCE THORNE OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a freshman from Kemp, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Field Athlete-of-the-Week for meets through Sunday, April 13th.

Thorne placed 2nd overall in the Javelin (first among Division III athletes) at the UIW Cardinal Invitational on April 11th-12th. 

Thorne threw a personal best in the Javelin by seven meters landing him No. 2 on the SCAC leader board. 

He also threw the Shot, Hammer and Discus at the meet.  Thorne's throw of 31.82m in the Hammer is a personal best bringing him to No. 2 in the SCAC. His throw of 30.83m in the Discus is also a personal best and places him 4th in the SCAC.
