Griffin Meyer, Colorado College, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 9)
GRIFFIN MEYER OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a freshman midfielder from Cleveland Heights, Ohio, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, October 27th.

Meyer struck for the game-winning goal in the 78th minute as the Colorado College men’s soccer team clinched at least a share of its first SCAC regular-season crown with a 2-1 victory over Trinity on Sunday. Meyer collected a pass from Kiran Singh in the center of the field, took a couple of touches, and curled a right-footed shot inside the left post for his team-best 10th goal of the season.

The first-year forward became the first Tiger to record double-digit goals since Brandon Ogilvie scored 11 in 2014, and the first freshman to accomplish the feat since Matt Fechter struck for 11 in 2009. Meyer also leads the team with four game-winning goals, the most by a Tiger since Caden MacKenzie scored five in 2016. He also extended his point streak to five games (6g/1a) and his goal streak to three games. In Friday’s 6-0 win over Schreiner, Meyer posted his second multiple-goal game of the season. Meyer is now tied for second in SCAC with 10 goals, is third with 22 points, both of which are team highs.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior midfielder Jean Luundo of Austin College scored the game-winning goal in double overtime to lift the ‘Roos over Centenary, 1-0, in the teams only match of the week. Sophomore midfielder Wil Escobar of Centenary scored four goals last week, including a hat trick in a win against Louisiana College to help the Gents post a 2-1 record in three contests. Junior forward Maxwell Lockhart of St. Thomas gave the Celts a much-needed insurance goal in a 3-0 win at Dallas on Sunday. Sophomore Luis Green of Texas Lutheran scored a pair of goals in the 3-0 home win over Southwestern last Friday. Junior forward Andrea Codispoti of Trinity led the Tigers to a 1-1 record last week, scoring three goals in a win over Johnson & Wales and adding an assist in a loss at Colorado College.
