Jack Downes, Trinity University, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 8)
JACK DOWNES OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, freshman midfielder from Sheffield, England, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, October 20th. 
 
Downes led the Tiger men’s soccer team to a 2-0 SCAC weekend on the road, defeating both Southwestern and Texas Lutheran to move up to second in the standings. Downes scored both goals in a 2-1 win over Southwestern, curling in a free kick for the eventual game-winner in the 86th minute. The goals were the first this season for Downes.
 
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior forward Kiran Singh of Colorado College scored the lone goal in the Tigers’ 1-0 win at Austin College last Friday and then added an assist in the win over Dallas to push CC to a perfect 2-0 week. Junior midfielder Brady McNamara of Dallas netted the game-winning goal in the final minute of play to lift the Crusaders to a 3-2 win over Johnson & Wales last Friday night. Junior midfielder Luis Bencomo of St. Thomas scored twice to lead the Celts to a 2-1 win over Centenary in the lone game of the week for both teams. Junior midfielder Jared Esparza of Texas Lutheran scored twice in a 5-1 win over Schreiner last Sunday.
