JACK AMMONS OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior midfielder from Seattle, Wash., has been named the SCAC Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, February 18 through Sunday, February 24.
Ammons anchored the Tigers’ man-down unit that successfully killed seven of eight penalties during a 10-9 overtime victory against Berry College last Saturday. CC was down a man for a total of 5:51, including the final 57 seconds of regulation. Ammons tied for the team lead with three ground balls and pair of caused turnovers, the second of which directly led to Tyler Borko’s goal that gave CC a 9-8 lead with 2:29 remaining in the third quarter. During the first three games this season, the Tigers have allowed only five man-down goals in 21 opportunities. Ammons currently ranks second on the team with eight ground balls and four caused turnovers
