Colorado College's Kreitler, Murphy Named SCAC Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Senior midfielder Jack Kreitler and sophomore goaltender Chase Murphy of Colorado College have been named SCAC Men's Lacrosse Players-of-the-Week after their brilliant effort last weekend.

 

 

 

 

 

SCAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK
Games of  March 17th – March 23rd

JACK KREITLER OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior midfielder from Fairfield, Conn., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 17th through Sunday, March 23rd.

Kreitler
struck for six goals and added a pair of assists to lead Colorado College to a 3-0 record at home last week. 

Kreitler began the week with two goals and two assists during Wednesday’s 11-5 victory over Babson College. 

Two days later, he scored once during a critical 8-7 victory against Otterbein University. Kreitler completed the week by scoring three times in the first period to lead the Tigers to a 14-5 victory over Southwestern in a non-conference game. 

He reached the 100-point mark on his second tally with 6:22 remaining in the first quarter. Kreitler, who has five multiple-goal games this season, leads the Tigers with 15 goals and 23 points, and is tied for first with eight assists. 

 

SCAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK

CHASE MURPHY OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a sophomore goaltender from Cohasset, Mass., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 17th through Sunday, March 23rd.

Murphy stopped 31 of 44 shots on goal while Colorado College to a 3-0 record at home last week. 

Murphy made a season-high 16 saves to help the Tigers cruise to an 11-5 victory over Babson College on Wednesday. Murphy, who recorded double-digit saves for the fourth time this season and the 11th time in his career, steered aside six shots during the fourth quarter when CC was flagged for four one-minute penalties and played two men down for 67 seconds. 

After surrendering three first-period goals against Otterbein University, Murphy steered aside nine of the next 13 shots on goal to help Colorado College record an 8-7 victory against one of the teams it is competing against for a ‘Pool B’ selection to the NCAA Tournament. 

Murphy finished his week by allowing just one goal on seven shots during 25:09 in net against Southwestern.
