Southwestern's Downing; Colorado College's Murphy Earn SCAC Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Senior midfielder Tyler Downing of Southwestern University and sophomore goaltender Chase Murphy of Colorado College has been named SCAC Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week for their outstanding performances this past week.

 

 

 

 

 

SCAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK
Games of  March 31st – April 6th

TYLER DOWNING OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior midfielder from Austin, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 31st through Sunday, April 6th.

Downing led the Pirates to a 2-0 week with dominating wins over Franciscan and Capital.

Downing continued his hot streak offensively this week, scoring a team high nine goals. He took 19 shots with 13 being on goal for a .684 shots on goal percentage. 

Downing also picked up eight ground balls, second most on the team, and caused two turnovers. 

 

SCAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK
Games of  March 31st – April 6th

CHASE MURPHY OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a sophomore goaltender from Cohasset, Mass., has been selected the SCAC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 31st through Sunday, April 6th.

Murphy made 11 saves as Colorado College rallied for a 10-6 victory over Division II Adams State University on Wednesday night. 

Murphy, who recorded double-digit saves for the fifth time this season and the 12th time in his career, helped the Tigers deny ASU on eight of nine man-down situations. 

Murphy won his fourth consecutive game to improve to 6-4. He lowered his goal-against average to 7.65 and improved his saves percentage to .586
