Daniel Nunez, Trinity University, Men's Golfer of the Week (Spring - Week 3)

DANIEL NUNEZ OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a freshman from Los Angeles, Calif., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Wednesday, February 26 through Tuesday, March 3.

Nunez took individual medalist honors at the SCAC Preview whch was contested at Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco, Texas. The first-year golf finished with a two-day total of 141 (-3) after rounds of 68 and 73, and his 68 ws the low round of the tournament. Nunez led the field in birdies (15) and Par 4 scoring, playing those holes in even par. He was second in Par 5 sccoring at -6.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Reed Balcerowicz of Centenary took medalist honors at the LeTourneau Pinecrest Intercollegiate with a three-round total of 213 (E) in leading the Gents to a third place finish. His final round 68 was the low round of the tournament. Senior Cade Osgood of Southwestern finished second overall at the SCAC Preview with a two-day total of 142 (-2). His 70 on Tuesday was the low round of the day and moved him from a tie for sixth to second. Sophomore Chase Maus of Texas Lutheran finished third with rounds of 72 and 72 (144) at the SCAC Preview. He was one of just three gofers to finish at or below level par. Freshman Reece Newkirk of St. Thomas led the way for the Celts, finishing tied for eighth in the 59-player field at the SCAC Preview after firing rounds of 74 and 74 for a final score of 148 (+4). Sophomore Christopher Cameron of Schreiner was the top finisher for the Mountaineers at the SCAC Preview with rounds of 73 and 76 for a two-day total of 149 (+5), good for a tie for 12th. Junior Emilio Montalvo of Dallas shot a two-day total of 150 (73-77) at the SCAC Preview at Vaaler Creek to pace the Crusaders.  Freshman Thomas O'Connor of Johnson & Wales led the Wildcats at the SCAC Preview, firing rounds of 75 and 79 to finish at 154 (+10) and a tie for 31st place.
