HENRY PHAVORACHIT OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a sophomore from Missouri City, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from September 25 through October 1.
Phavorachit led the Celts to a third-place team finish by shooting 148 over the two-day University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusader Intercollegiate. The sophomore fired a final round 72 - the second-lowest round of the day - vaulting him eight spots up the individual leaderboard to finish tied for third.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman Daniel Nunez of Trinity paced the Tigers after shooting a 2-over-par 74 and a tie for fifth place at the UMHB Crusader Intercollegiate. His 5-over 149 was just three strokes behind the winner as the first-year recorded a total of 21 pars in the tournament. Nunez was also tied for third with six birdies on his card. Senior Alex Fernandez of Johnson & Wales carded a second-round 78 (+6) on Sunday to finish 16-over at the Linfield College Wildcat Invitational and tied for 29th individually.
