Christian Rodriguez, Southwestern University, Men's Golfer of the Week (Week 3)

CHRISTIAN RODRIGUEZ OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a freshman from Houston, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from September 18 through September 24.

Rodriguez paced the Pirates to a second-place team finish at the prestigious Rhodes College Fall Classic. In a field where 12 of the 20 participating schools were ranked in the GolfStat Top 50 from the spring of '19, Rodriguez finished with a combined score of 212 after shooting 70, 72 and 70 over the three-day event. The freshman was solid throughout, finishing third overall in the 104-player field with 38 pars and 10 birdies. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman Richard Polan of Centenary College tied for medalist honors at the Louisiana College Fall Invite after posting back to back rounds of 73 to finish with a 146 (+2). Senior Jacob Wade of the University of Dallas delivered his best all-around performance of the fall season, finishing with a 217 overall to tie for 11th place among individuals at the Rhodes College Fall Classic. Senior Alex Fernandez of Johnson & Wales University Denver led the Wildcats with a 2-over 74 at the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational, tying for sixth with four other golfers and four shots back of the leader. Juniors Bradley McCaleb and Nick Morris of the University of St. Thomas led the Celts as they both carded a 75 Monday - good for 18th place on the individual leaderboard - at the University of Houston-Victoria Fall Classic.
