Jackson Townsend, Austin College, Defensive Player of the Week (Week 4)

JACKSON TOWNSEND OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a sophomore defensive back from Richardson, Texas, has been named the SCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week for games played Saturday, September 24th.

Townsend had a big game for Austin College, making 8 tackles, including 4 solo stops, and returned an interception for 30 yards.

Townsend also recorded a sack and recovered a fumble in a narrow, late loss to SAGU.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior linebacker Darian Candler of Texas Lutheran University posted his fourth consecutive double-digit tackle game with 14 total tackles (3 for a loss), while collecting an interception and a sack against Hardin-Simmons. Senior defensive lineman Luke Packard of Trinity University led the Tigers with 6 total tackles and 2.5 sacks in a narrow 19-17 road loss at Chapman University on Saturday night. Packard leads the Tigers with 7.0 sacks and 43 total tackles this season, including 12.5 overall tackles for loss.
