TYLER POST OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a freshman first baseman from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Monday, March 9 through Sunday, March 15.
Post homered twice, reached base four times, and drove in three as the Bulldogs defeated DeSales (Pa.), 16-3 on Tuesday. The freshman hit a solo home run in the middle of TLU's three consecutive home runs in the second inning and then belted a two-run in the sixth to slug 4.000 on the day with a pair of walks and two runs scored.
With Tuesday's perfect effort, Post raised his average to .385 and his RBI total to 13 in 12 games played.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior outfielder Byron Dowdell II of Southwestern, in what could possibly be the last game of his collegiate career, went 3-for-5 with consecutive home runs to plate four RBIs and score three runs, finishing the week hitting .333 to help the Pirates go 2-0. Senior outfielder Rafe Chaumette of Trinity finished off his season with two multi-hit games, leading fifth-ranked Trinity to a 3-0 record last week. The senior went 6-for-9 (.667) with three doubles and five runs scored in his two games played. He went 4-for-5 with three doubles and three runs scored in Monday's win over New Jersey City, then went 2-for-4 with two runs scored to close out his season. He also stole three bases in the two games.
