JAMES NITTOLI OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior left-hander from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, March 11 through Sunday, March 17.
Nittoli pitched the third-ranked Tigers to a series-clinching victory in the second game of Saturday’s SCAC doubleheader at Dallas. Nittoli threw seven strong innings to earn the win, allowing just two runs on three hits while striking out six batters. He didn’t allow a runner to advance past second base until the eighth inning.
Other Outstanding Performances:
Texas Lutheran senior pitcher Dylan Murrell picked up the 15-14 win in the series finale with Wisconsin-Plattville, recording eight strikeouts while allowing two earned runs through 5.0 innings of relief. Southwestern sophomore RHP Austin Smith earned the series opening victory over Schreiner after sitting nine batters in 8.0 innings of work.
