Austin Smith of Southwestern University, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Cedar Park, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, February 11 through Sunday, February 17.
Smith was dominant in the Pirates’ season opener, setting the tone early by striking out the side in the first inning, and finishing strong through his complete-game, 16-strikeout effort. His 16 strikouts are tied for the sixth most in a single-game in SCAC history.

Junior left-hander James Nittoli of Trinity held a clean ERA through 8.1 innings of work in the Tigers victory over Birmingham-Southern on Saturday. Dallas junior LHP Conrad Voss struck out three batters in seven innings of work against LeTourneau on Friday. Senior RHP Dylan Murrell of Texas Lutheran earned a save for the Bulldogs on Friday against Hardin-Simmons, recording a pair of strikeouts in 2.0
