Josh Gilliam, Schreiner University, Hitter of the Week (Week 10)

JOSH GILLIAM OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a junior infielder from Spring Branch, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Monday, April 8 through Sunday, April 7.

Gilliam led the Mountaineers to a pair of wins last week, going 5-for-14 at the plate (.357) while slugging 1.000. On the week, Gillaim tallied three home runs, 11 RBI and three runs scored. The Texas-native had his best performance in game two of the double-header against Dallas where he batted .600 (3-for-5), blasting two home runs while amassing eight RBI to become the first SCAC player to record eight or more RBI in a single-game since 2012. Gilliam’s eight RBI is tied for the third most in a single game in SCAC history.

Other Outstanding Performances:

Trinity sophomore infielder Jack Wisniewski went 5-for-14 at the plate (.500), tallying five runs scored and five RBI to lead the Tigers to a 3-1 mark last week. Junior third baseman Nathan Patton of Dallas batted .545 (6-for-11) and slugged .818, scoring five runs and collecting five RBI through four games for the Crusaders. Texas Lutheran junior second baseman Austin Colon contributed three RBI and four runs scored while going 7-for-15 at the plate (.467) in the Bulldogs’ series sweep over Centenary.
