SHREVEPORT, La. - The Centenary College of Louisiana Department of Athletics and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in conjunction with the Special Olympics hosted a unified flag football game on Saturday. Apr. 13.

"I was really glad that we finally got to put on an event with the Special Olympics.  It is always great when sports bring people together,” said Rachel Grinnell. “This event was a lot of fun and the athletes from the Special Olympics were really friendly, nice, and you could tell that they were having a fantastic time, as were we. I really look forward to more events in the future to partner with the Special Olympics."

Along with the game the group hosted rotation for the participants including, passing, catching, pulling flags, and sprinting. Approximately 40 athletes participated in the event.

"It's always refreshing to see students having a great time volunteering for an amazing organization like the Louisiana Special Olympics,” stated Julie Hughes. “I had a really fun time on Saturday and it was great to see Centenary partnering with this organization."

Centenary will host an event with the Special Olympics on Wednesday, Apr. 17 at the Centenary baseball game against cross-town rival Louisiana State University-Shreveport. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Shehee Stadium.
