Trinity leads three SCAC schools ranked in 2013-2014 Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup fall standings

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Currently tied for fourth place, Trinity University leads three SCAC institutions ranked in the prestigious 2013-2014 Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup fall standings. Complete NACDA Release

Trinity has amassed 281 points in the standings on the strength of its four NCAA appearances this fall. The Tigers placed second in women's soccer, fifth in men's soccer, ninth in women's volleyball and 20th in women's cross country.

Colorado College has 89 points and is tied for 62nd place among the 189 schools ranked. The Tigers placed ninth in women's volleyball and 33rd in women's soccer.

Southwestern University is tied for 105th with 50 points from its 17th place finish in women's volleyball.

The defending champion, Williams College, has the lead in the final fall Division III Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings with 376 total points. Currently in second place is Williams’ conference foe Middlebury (Vt.) College with 310 points. Johns Hopkins University moved up two places after finishing 17th in football and now occupies the third spot with 289 points. Washington University-St. Louis moved up two places thanks to a 17th place finish in football and is tied with Trinity for fourth place with 281 points.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women’s and nine men's.

To date, all seven fall NCAA championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: women’s cross country – Johns Hopkins (Md.); men’s cross country – St. Olaf; field hockey – Bowdoin; volleyball – Calvin; women’s soccer – William Smith; men’s soccer – Messiah; football – Wisconsin-Whitewater.
