The Colorado College women's swim team dropped a 184-110 decision to Colorado School of Mines in a dual meet Saturday in Golden, Colo.
Colorado College captured two events against the Division II Orediggers, with senior
Justina Zuckerman winning the 50 freestyle and sophomore
Selma Jukic doing the same in the 200 free. The Tigers also placed second in each of those races with sophomores
Sarah Dunbar and
Jio Chang in the 50 and 200, respectively.
Zuckerman finished the meet with three second-place results. She claimed runner-up in the 100 freestyle and was a member of the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams. Dunbar was on each of the relay teams.
"Going 1-2 in the women's 200 free and again in the 50 free was impressive," head coach
Anne Goodman James said. "In the 200, Selma took it out fast and no one could catch her, while Jio was more conservative in the beginning and made a big move on the back half, moving from 4th to second. In the 50 it was a powerful race across the board, with Justina and Sarah managing to get their hands on the wall first."
Jukic and Chang finished third in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly, respectively, while senior
Emily Harrison (100 backstroke and 500 free) and freshman
Emileigh Rafidi (100 and 200 breaststroke) each had a pair of third-place finishes.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Nov. 4, with a double dual meet against Austin College and the University of the Ozarks in Sherman, Texas.
