Colorado College advanced to the championship match of the 2010 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball tournament with a 25-13, 25-7, 25-11 victory over host Trinity University on Saturday morning.
CC improved to 29-6 and avenged its only conference loss of the season. Trinity dropped to 22-15.
Colorado College finished with a blistering .456 hitting percentage, its highest against a conference opponent this season, with 46 kills on 90 attacks with only five errors. Taking into account four blocks by Trinity, the top-seeded Tigers had only one unforced error.
Junior setter Amy Schornack had 35 assists to lead Colorado College's balanced attack.
Senior middle blocker Erika Pirotte had 12 kills and a .579 hitting percentage. Senior middle blocker Emily Perkins hit .526 with 10 kills, while junior outside hitter Sarah Schmoker hit. 474 with 11 kills.
Sophomore libero Laura Goldsmith had a match-high 14 digs, while freshman middle blocker Devin Wilkinson had a hand in three of CC's six blocks to go over 100 for the season.
Maddy Hazelwood had nine kills to lead Trinity, which hit just .037 as a team.
Colorado College faces the winner of the second semifinal between Centre College and DePauw University in the championship match at 8:15 p.m. Saturday.
