(DALLAS, Texas) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's team finished play at the University of Texas Dallas Fall Festival on Saturday and dropped a 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-22) match to Aurora University and a 3-1 (21-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-20) match to Southwestern (Texas) University. The Tartans move to 3-4 on the season.
Senior Vivian Beaudoin (Washington, N.J. / Warren Hills) tabbed nine kills to lead the Tartans against Aurora with sophomore Avani Seshiah (Cincinnati, Ohio / The Seven Hills School) ending with six. Junior Stella Yan (Coppell, Texas / Coppell) dished out 23 assists and added an ace.
Freshman Abby Chen (Fairfax, Va. / Oakton) led the defense with 13 digs, as Yan had nine in the setback. Beaudoin along with senior Carrie Stewart (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) each had three block assists.
Against Southwestern, Beaudoin continued to lead the Cardinal and Gary on the attack with 15 kills. Stewart also had double digit kills with a season-best 11 while Yan handed out 38 assists.
Chen tied her season-high with 21 digs. Sophomores Laura Reichard (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico / Saint John's School) and Mindee Lai (Belmont, Mass. / Belmont) each had 17 digs. Sophomore Jane Dean (Wilmette, Ill. / New Trier) and led the Tartans at the net with five block assists and one solo block. Yan finished with four block assists and Stewart had three along with a solo block.
Next up for the Tartans is the University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin #1 to be played at the University of Chicago. The first of three matches will start at 12:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, September 18 against Brandeis University.
