Melanie Auguste scored 17 of her game-high 23 points in the second half to lead Colorado College to a 74-59 victory over Birmingham-Southern College on Sunday afternoon at Reid Gymnasium. 

 

Auguste had eight points during a 20-7 run that put gave the Tigers a 53-39 lead with 6:20 remaining in the game. BSC cut its deficit to 10 points on a pair of free throws by Danielle Harbor with 5:38 remaining, but that was as close as the Panthers would get.

 

Emily Wattman-Turner finished with 13 points, hitting three of four shots from behind the arc, while Eliese Hansberry added 14 points and eight rebounds. Auguste completed her 10 double-double of the season with 13 rebounds and added six assists.

 

The Tigers began the game with an 11-0 run, but the Panthers stormed back and took the lead on a three-point basket by Courtney Gibson with 3:25 remaining. Wattman-Turner hit a three-pointer with 1:12 left to tie the score at 28-28 after 20 minutes.

 

The Panthers were led by Katelyn Wilson with 17 points. Harbor finished with 12, while Gibson added 11.

 

The Tigers improved to 12-5 overall, but remain 6-3 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play because games against the Panthers don't count while the school makes its transition from Division 1 to Division III. BSC drops to 10-8 overall.

 

The Tigers return to the road next weekend for conference games at Oglethorpe University and Sewanee. Birmingham-Southern will play host to Millsaps College and Hendrix College.
