SEGUIN, Texas -- Howard Payne erased a 13-point second-half deficit and defeated Texas Lutheran 78-69 Friday night in TLU's Memorial Gymnasium.
HPU moved to 1-1 overall. TLU fell to 1-2 with the non-conference loss.
Tyrell Thompson scored 17 for the Yellow Jackets, and Jase Miguez added 16 points.
Timothy Aguero chipped in seven points and 10 rebounds.
Sebastian Andrade led TLU with 24 points. He added four rebounds and three assists.
Caleb Lister, TLU's junior forward, contributed 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Brock Weaver, the Bulldogs' sophomore point guard, delivered 10 points, four assists, and four steals.
TLU shot 37.1 percent for the game. HPU shot 53.6 percent for the game and shot 58.8 percent in the second half.
