Seniors Strike Gold as CC Edges Austin College in Overtime

Miles Montgomery made Senior Day a memorable occasion when he struck for the Golden Goal 18 seconds into overtime to give the Colorado College men's soccer team a dramatic 2-1 victory over Austin College on Saturday at Stewart Field.

Montgomery scored on a first-touch shot into the left side of the net off of a cross from senior midfielder Jackson Silverstein. The sequence began when Skyler Stark-Ragsdale sent a perfectly-paced through-ball down the right on CC's first possession of the extra period.

"It was nice to see our seniors conclude their home careers with a win, and fitting that three of them combined for the winning OT goal," head coach Scott Palguta said. "It's unfortunate that we left our goal-scoring shoes in the closet today. I thought the group played well overall, but we left the door open by not finishing our chances."

Montgomery extended his point streak to four games with the first game winner of his career. The Oakland, Calif., product also took over the team lead with 12 points.

Silverstein has at least one point in four of the last five games.

The Tigers appeared to be headed for a 1-0 victory when they were called for a handball in the box with 1:40 remaining in regulation time, and Austin's Colin Saum scored from the spot with a high shot to the left side of the net.

Until that point in the game, the 'Roos generated just six total shots, only two of which were on target.

Colorado College broke through in the 30th minute when Sajjan Singh scored his first goal of the season off of a header pass from his brother, Kiran. That play began with a throw in from Atticus Lynch on the right sideline. Kiran Singh was able to flick it on toward the back post, where his brother was waiting to pounce.

It marked the second time this season and the third time overall the Singh brothers combined for a goal.

The Tigers finished the game with a 23-7 advantage in total shots and a 12-1 margin in corner kicks.
