'Roo Women Fall in Overtime

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team scored twice after halftime to even things up and send the game to overtime, but Schreiner would score a golden goal in the 96th minute to give the 'Roos a 3-2 loss on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 2-4-1 overall on the year.

The game was scoreless until the 35th minute, when Schreiner's Alyssa Davila took advantage of a foul at the top of the box to blast a shot into the upper left corner to make it 1-0. The Mountaineers would add another goal just over six minutes later when Dani Loeblein got on a breakaway and beat 'Roo keeper Maya Erwin one on one in the box.

However, it wouldn't take Austin College to equalize in the second half. Sarah Carmichael notched her second goal of the season at the 47:54 mark to make it 2-1, and just 56 seconds later, Carmichael found the net again to square things up. That would be the last tally of regulation, sending the game to overtime, where Davila managed to find the net at the 95:27 mark to end the game and hand the 'Roos the defeat.

Schreiner owned a 26-to-16 shot advantage in the match, putting 16 shots on goal to six on goal for the 'Roos. Erwin made 13 saves for Austin College in the loss.
