Schick Wins 50 Fly to Pace Big Cats

Ethan Schick took first in the 50-yard butterfly, but the Colorado College men's swimming and diving team came up short on Saturday against Wayland Baptist University and Ohio Northern University at Schlessman Natatorium.

Wayland Baptist defeated CC, 164-82, while Ohio Northern beat the Tigers, 146-102.

Schick touched the wall in 23.98, edging WBU's Mihovil Bakovic, who posted a time of 24.08. Schick also took fourth in the 100 fly in 55.05.

Eric Dallesasse took second in back-to-back events – the 100 fly with a time of 54.13 and in the 200 individual medley in 2:06.06. He also was third in the 200 free with a clocking of 1:51.75.

"The men were a bit short handed tonight, and that showed up in the score," head coach Anne Goodman James said. "Ethan Schick is an amazing racer, taking the win in a very competitive 50 fly event. Eric Dallesasse continues to be a gutsy finisher in freestyle, butterfly and IM events."

Stefan Bay finished second in the 100 back with a clocking of 55.81 and fourth in the 50 back in 26.84.

Michael Wright took second in the 500 free in 5:19.50, touching the a little more than nine seconds behind Wayland Baptist's Henri Gunther.

Robbie Adler led Colorado College in the breaststroke events, finishing fourth in both the 100 (1:04.07) and 50 (28.65) races.

"Robbie Adler swam to all season bests tonight, racing fearlessly in the breaststrokes, and then anchoring the 200 free relay with the Tigers fastest split," Goodman James said.

CC will continue its winter training before returning to action on Jan. 21-22 at the 2017 Colorado College Classic.
