IRVING, Texas - The Austin College softball team split its doubleheader at the University of Dallas on Sunday, taking game one 10-8 before falling 6-5 in game two. The 'Roos are now 1-28 overall and 1-17 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

In game one, the 'Roos jumped out to a big lead early, scoring three runs in the first and another three in the second to go on top 6-0. Ashley Elliott got the scoring started with an RBI single, and after Ashley Mayorga came home on a double steal attempt, Marisa Duke knocked in another run to cap off the top of the first. Mayorga singled home another run in the second and Cassidy McDaris had a two-run double to make it 6-0. 

Dallas responded with three runs in the bottom of the second, and after Hannah Swanson drove in a run in the third the Crusaders plated four in the bottom half of that inning to square things at 7-7. McDaris drove in another run in the fourth to put Austin College back on top, and in the fifth, Mari Prazak ripped an RBI triple and Liz Parks followed that up with a single to score Prazak and make it 10-7. Dallas got one run back in the bottom of the fifth but that's as close as things would get.

Jordan Proctor went the distance in the circle to earn the win, surrendering eight runs - only two earned - on 10 hits. McDaris went 3-for-4 with three RBI to pace Austin College at the dish as the 'Roos racked up 17 hits as a team.

In game two, McDaris and Emma Martinez each drove in a run to make it a 2-0 game after an inning, and that remained the score until the fifth, when Martinez doubled home two runs and Duke added an RBI double of her own to put the 'Roos ahead 5-0. However, the Crusaders came roaring back with six runs in the bottom of the fifth, and neither team would manage to get another run across the rest of the way.

Proctor took the loss in relief, giving up an unearned run on two hits in 1.1 innings of action. Swanson led Austin College offensively, going 3-for-4, and Mayorga added a 2-for-3 performance.
