'Roo Softball Falls at UT-Dallas

RICHARDSON, Texas - The Austin College softball team dropped a 15-3 decision on the road at the University of Texas-Dallas on Tuesday, bringing the team's record to 0-5 to open the 2019 campaign.

The 'Roos got off to a strong start in the game, plating a pair of runs in the top of the first to grab a 2-0 lead. Ashley Elliott got the scoring started with an RBI single and later came around to score on a double by Mari Prazak. However, UTD countered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to surge ahead 3-2. Austin College evened things up in the top of the second on an RBI single by Cassidy McDaris, and the score remained knotted at three runs apiece until the bottom of the third.

That's when the Comets would explode for eight runs to open things up, getting things started in the inning with back-to-back home runs to go ahead 5-3. UT-Dallas ended the inning leading 11-3, and would tack on four more runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it 15-3, and that's how things would end after five innings.

Prazak finished 2-for-3 at the dish to lead the 'Roos offensively, and four other players had one hit each. Taylor Groover took the loss for Austin College, surrendering 11 runs on 13 hits in 2.1 innings of work. Game two of the doubleheader was called in the first inning due to darkness, and will not be made up.
