'Roos Top Texas Lutheran in Overtime

SEGUIN, Texas - The Austin College women's basketball team survived a scare from Texas Lutheran on Friday night, topping the Bulldogs 59-52 in overtime to clinch a first round bye in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. The 'Roos are now 20-4 overall and 13-2 in SCAC play, and will be either the No. 1 or No. 2 seed heading into next weeks tournament hosted by TLU.

Bryce Frank made history for Austin College in the win, notching the 53rd double-double of her career to move past former 'Roo Katy Williams for the all-time SCAC record. Frank also moved into the top 10 in conference history on the scoring list, and is now the only player currently in the top 10 all-time in both points and rebounds. Frank scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the victory over the Bulldogs.

Addison Walling came up big for Austin College in the victory as well, scoring 18 points and pulling down 10 boards while also coming away with six crucial steals. Walling scored 12 of her points in the second half, with five of her steals also coming after halftime. The 'Roos shot 41.2% from the field in the game but managed just 5-of-18 shooting from long distance, and also struggled at the free throw line with a 12-of-22 performance. Austin College also turned the ball over 25 times in the game, but used a 44-to-30 advantage on the glass and held TLU to 34.5% shooting to come away with the win.

Austin College closes out the regular season on Saturday, as the 'Roos travel to Georgetown to take on Southwestern University at 4:00 p.m.
