Men's Soccer Shutout by TLU on the Road

SEGUIN, Texas — The Southwestern University Pirates men's soccer team was shutout by the Texas Lutheran University Bulldogs, losing 3-0 on the road. 

The Pirates put five of their 11 shots on goal but were turned away by Texas Lutheran goalie Caleb Weed, who ranks second in the SCAC with 76 saves on a .776 save percentage as a first year. 

Texas Lutheran had eight shots in the first half, breaking through when SCAC assists leader Marco Roman found midfielder Cameron Townes for his ninth goal of the season. 

The Pirates held the Bulldogs to fewer shots and corner kicks in the second, giving up six and two, but Texas Lutheran was more efficient, scoring two second-half goals. 

Southwestern had trouble with SCAC leading scorer Luis Green, who scored off a penalty kick at the 45:20 mark, and had another unassisted goal at the 69:02 mark, scoring his 13th goal of the season. 

With the loss, the Pirates drop to 9-5-2 on the season and 3-3-1 in conference play. Texas Lutheran improves to 11-5-0 and 5-2-0. Southwestern will return to action on Friday, Nov. 1 against St. Thomas at 7:30 p.m.
