Chloe Bennett and the Celts Secure Series Victory Over Centenary

Chloe Bennett and the Celts Secure Series Victory Over Centenary

Softball wrapped up their SCAC opening series with Centenary this Sunday afternoon. The Celts were led by Chloe Bennett's monster day at the plate to achieve the 10-6 victory.

In the first inning, both teams seemed even ending with two runs apiece. However, with the score tied at two, the Celts answered with seven hits in the visitor half of the second. This generated five runs powered by Chloe Bennett's three-run shot to left field to make the score 7-2. Centenary tried to keep pace with the Celts adding one run in each of the following four innings, yet it wasn't enough as the Celts added three more runs of insurance. Then down to their last six outs, the Ladies could not generate a run as the score finished 10-6 in favor of the Celts, securing the 2-1 series victory for St. Thomas.

In the circle, the duo of Allison Hughes and Bailey Tisdale got the job done. Hughes got the start and allowed four runs on five hits with two strikeouts. Tisdale came in relief and got the win in 4.2 innings of work allowing just two runs on six hits.

Chloe Bennett led the Celt offense going 5-5 at the plate with four RBIs and three runs. Bennett led a Celt offensive explosion that notched 17 hits and three walks. Right behind her was Adelyn Beccera who went 4-5 with three RBIs to her already impressive series.

Up next, the Celts return home for their SCAC series with Austin College. Come to WUSA this Friday at 7 PM to support your Celts.
