Texas Lutheran Comes Up Short Against UT-Dallas

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran came up short in the second game of their non-conference back-to-back, falling at home to UT-Dallas, 75-66, Thursday night at Memorial Gymnasium.

Xavier Phillips (Austin/Dripping Springs) with a season-high 17 points and team-high five rebounds. Phillips had 14 points in the first half alone before being limited in the second half due to foul trouble.

LaDarius King (Austin/St. Stephen's Episcopal) had a season-high 13 points and four rebounds.

Mason Wallace (San Antonio/Judson) ended his night in double-figures for the third consecutive games with 13 points off the bench for the Bulldogs in addition to three steals and a block.

It was a back and forth first half that saw TLU take a six-point, 41-35, lead into the halftime break led by Phillips' 14 point effort. The second half was dominated by the Comets' Donovan Souter who scored 15 of his 31 points in the second half. UT-Dallas would outscore the Bulldogs 40-25 in the second half as they would come back to steal a win on the road. The Comets would lead by as many as 13 points in the second half - a lead that would not return to single digits until four seconds remaining in the game.

The Bulldogs fall to 1-3 while UT-Dallas improves to 1-1. The Cowboys shot 45.5% from the field on the night compared to the Bulldogs 33.9%.

The Bulldogs (1-3) return to Memorial Gymnasium on Tuesday, Nov. 21, as they welcome the Concordia Tornados to Seguin. Tip-off is slated for 6 PM on TLU+. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
